I recently took the family camping and my son was chopping firewood the entire trip. This was his first experience camping and he absolutely loved chopping wood. The quality of this item is great and the weight and design was perfect for my 7 year old son to work with comfortably. While he lacked real strength I was able to split wood quickly with this product and it kept its edge the entire weekend.

Needed to grind down and reprofile the blade a bit but very happy with the size and weight. I will be hitting this with a hammer to drive it through as I split wood so will see how it holds up but after a few weeks of use, it is still in great shape and it has done a great job of splitting 4inch to 12 inch logs. The extra flared out metal on the side does make a difference to split the log.
